San Antonio Livestock Show 2008
San Antonio, TX- The recipient of the San Antonio Livestock Expo, Inc. $10,000 scholarship is Kelsey Hoffpauir, 14, of Splendora, TX. Kelsey was a youth exhibitor in the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s Donkey and Mule Show, held February 11-12, 2008.
Kelsey exhibited three animals during the show, a mule, Josephine My Love, owned by Dianne Smith, a miniature donkey, Li’l Angels Axelle, and the donkey, Chillie Rojo, owned by Rose Jones. She has also won with these animals before, taking home a saddle from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in 2005. Kelsey is a freshman at Splendora High School and enjoys riding 4-wheelers and mudding in her free time.
Kelsey feels very blessed to have received the scholarship as it helps lighten the financial burden of secondary education. She would like to thank her mom and Richard, her Grandma and Grandpa Rojo, Grandpa Branson and special thanks goes to Grandma Rose. Kelsey also thanks Jeannie and Ken Richards, Dianne Smith, David Sessum, Sherry Kent and her trainer, Sharon for all their help and hard work. Most of all she is thankful of God for all her answered prayers.
To date, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo educational commitment exceeds $79 million with a record $7.6 million committed in 2007 in the form of scholarships, grants, endowments, auctions, a calf scramble program and show premiums paid to youth. Awards and scholarships for this year will add more than 300 new scholars to the program. Currently, there are more than 1,000 active scholarship recipients. Our scholarships are represented by students in 65 colleges and universities throughout Texas.
